1. What is personal data?
Personal data is information that could be used to identify personal or factual information about you. Data that could not be used to identify you (or only with a disproportionate level of effort) is not classed as personal data (e.g. data that has been pseudonymised or anonymised).
2. What data do we collect and process?
Much of our online offering can be used without the need to disclose your identity. However, if you register for one of our personalised services, we ask you to supply your name and other personal data. It is completely up to you whether or not you supply this data but without it we cannot provide the requested services.
Data is stored on our servers whenever you access the requested information. We store this data for security purposes and so that we can provide the services requested. It may be possible to identify you from this data (e.g. IP address, date, time and web pages accessed).
3. For what purpose does surf-holiday.com use your data?
We do not carry out personal analyses but reserve the right to do statistical analyses of pseudonymised or anonymised data. For instance, IP logs are stored for reasons of system security (to avoid abuse), for statistical purposes (number of users and pages accessed) and to improve the website.
In particular, we ask you for personal data when you submit a rating and we or one of our partners will then process this data. However, in this case you are notified separately.
Other than that, your data is processed or used only for additional purposes if you have given your express consent to its use in this way. We will never use your data for advertising purposes without your permission and we will only send you advertising material if you have given your express consent. You may withdraw this consent at any time by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org, but in this case you may not be able to access certain services offered by surf-holiday.com.
4. Is data passed on to third parties?
In certain circumstances we are required by law to pass your personal data on to third parties (e.g. if a criminal offence or abuse of the website is suspected). We are then required to pass your data on to the prosecuting authority.
Otherwise, your data is only stored on our database and servers or on the servers of our contractual data processing partners unless we have specifically notified you that we will pass the data on to other companies (e.g. cooperation and advertising partners) and if you have given your express consent.
5. Security measures to protect stored data
When data is collected, we or our contractual data processing partners will store it on specially protected servers. These servers can only be accessed by a few authorised individuals with responsibility for technical, commercial or editorial support.
We take comprehensive technological and operational security measures in order to prevent the loss or abuse of any data stored by surf-holiday.com. We review these measures regularly and adapt them to reflect technological developments.
However, you should be aware that the internet is structured in such a way that data protection rules or the above security measures may not be observed by persons or organisations outside our sphere of influence. In particular, unencrypted data – even if sent by email – can be read by third parties, and there is nothing we can do technically to prevent this. It is up to you to protect your data by encrypting it or protecting it in some other way from misuse.
Our online offering contains links to other websites. We have no way of ensuring that the operators of these websites comply with data protection requirements.
6. Google Analytics
This website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service provided by Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses “cookies”. These are text files placed on your computer that make it possible to analyse how you use the website. The data generated by the cookie about use of this website (including your IP address) is transmitted to Google and then stored by Google on servers in the United States. Google uses this information to analyse your website use, compile reports on website activity for website operators and providers of other services relating to website activity and internet usage. In certain cases, Google may also transmit this data to third parties if required to do so by law or if third parties process data on Google’s behalf. However, Google will not under any circumstances associate your IP with other data held by Google. You may block the installation of cookies by changing your browser settings accordingly. However, if you block them, you will not be able to use the full functionality of the website. By using our website, you give your consent that data collected about you may be used by Google in the way and for the purposes specified above.
