7. Hanalei, Kauai, Hawaii
Hanalei Town with beautiful Hanalei Bay (pictured above) sits on the North Shore of Kauai and is surrounded by many surf spots, from the beginner-friendly waves of the Hanalei Pier to expert-only reef breaks where experience and respect for the locals and knowledge of surf etiquette are prerequisites. Encinitas is a town with an easygoing mix of West Coast counterculture and New Age spiritualists.
