  4.  Journey

South-America is the fourth largest continent on earth in terms of the area. The Pacific in the west and the Atlantic Ocean in the east surround him. The landscape is shaped in South-America by alpine mountains in the Ands, tropical regions in the north and steppe in the southern countries.

The Amazonas basin in the northeast is the area in the world that gives a home to the largest amount of different species and is also known as the green lung of the earth. The continent is strongly influenced by the European colonial times; therefore you can find still architectonical leftovers from this epoch.

Some indigenous people still live according to their old traditions, especially in the remote areas of the Amazonas. South-America is for sure one of the most diversified continents and has a lot to offer for travellers.

To generalize the South American climate is due to its size and different climate zones impossible. For example the Ands have a rough alpine climate with extremely low temperatures whereas the west of South America is influenced by the trade winds and the influence of the cool “Humboldt stream”.

Accordingly with the different climate also surfing is much diversified on this continent: Cold water, wide beaches and endless long powerful waves in Chile or Peru, surfing in board-shorts in Ecuador and Brazil, undiscovered spots in Argentina or Uruguay.

South America has a lot to offer when it comes to surfing, and if you have some disposable time you will for sure spend some unforgettable days in the water. But also during short trips you can catch some good waves.

There are many direct flights to many countries in South America from all other continents. If a country shouldn’t be accessible directly it can for sure be reached with a stopover. Between the countries it is easy to move by bus. Bigger cities are connected in this way.
