The 2011 Games will be held at Playa Venao, a beach five hours south-west of Panama City. Perfect waves and warm water for this year's competition which runs from June 25th to July 2nd.
8 days, 27 nations and almost 200 surfers from different countries - In the next days the surfer will fight in the categories Open Men, Open Women and Open Longboard. Team Australia is the most successful of all nations to compete. Team Peru are defending champions. Team USA won in 2009. France (runner-Up in 2009), South Africa (2002 champions), Tahiti, Brazil (2000 champions) and New Zealand are always threats.
Playa Venao is a sand bottom beach break located 30 minutes past Pedasi. Venao catches just about any swell, so the chances are very good that waves will be at Playa Venao even when there is little or no surf elsewhere.
The official program started already with a press conference hosted by a panel of participants and organisers like Silvana Lima, ASP Women’s World Tour Top 5, Gary Saavedra, eleven-time National Champion of Panama, Jeremy Flores, 2009 ISA World Champion and Sofía Mulanovich, 2004 ISA and ASP World Champion. Today Saturday, 25 June the Parade of Nations and Opening Ceremony will follow in the afternoon. Official start of the waiting period is Sunday, 26 June
