Although Switzerland is part of the temperate zone, its climate is - thanks to the geographical position - very multifaceted and diversified. It is very much influenced by the Gulf Stream, which creates unusually mild conditions for Switzerland’s latitude.
Generally, there are four seasons: A mild and pretty wet spring, a warm summer and a cold, often snowy winter.
Surfing in Switzerland? In an inland? Yes, surfing is absolutely possible in this landlocked country. There are for example a couple of river waves, whose exact location you will not find on this site. But with a little bit of patience or a polite request in the local surf shop you may get a hint…
But people do not only surf on rivers, also in lakes some surfing is done. The rider surfs the bow wave of a boat loaded with additional weight. This new trend is called Wakesurfing and totally recommendable. Have fun!

By air, Switzerland is very easy to reach. Zurich (ZRH), Basel (BSL) and Geneva (GVA) are all well linked airports with regular connections to many other international destinations.
Offers from charter carriers and low cost airlines may change seasonally. But also a journey by car, bus or train is a good option. The road and railway network is considered as one of the best in whole Europe.
