Germany is located in a moderate climate zone, however due to its size; the climate in the country is very diversified and varied. It is, amongst other influences, strongly affected by the Gulf Stream, which affects the climate for this latitude and makes it uncommonly mild.

With an average of 15 days of rain per month December, January and February are the rainiest month of the year. During this period the average temperatures are only about -2 to 3 degrees.

In the summer months of June, July and August you can count on the longest hours of sunshine and the highest temperatures. The temperatures at this time rise up too 14-24 degrees.

The northern German regions have less sunshine than the southern regions throughout the year and accordingly temperatures in the north are also below temperatures in the south.

Surfing became popular on the North Sea coast in the beginning of the 70’s. Even though the water is chilly all year long, more and more surfers can be found in the line-ups. This is due to the fact that Germany has suitable waves for every level of expertise.

Fall, winter and spring are known as the best seasons, but due to its chilly water only suitable for the hard core surfers. In the summer however you can find quite comfortable temperatures. Booties and gloves can be left at home at this time of the year.
