Panama is a small country in the middle of Central America, surrounded by Costa Rica and Columbia, attracts more and more tourist.

Beside vibrant cities like Panama City the country offers wonderful and diversified tropical vegetation as well as sandy beaches with breathtaking sunsets.

Interesting is also the often untouched rain forest which gives a home to many exotic species. Therefore everybody will like Panama: Friends of nature, beach tourist and water sport seekers.

Everybody will find just the right thing for himself or herself. Especially surfer find ideal conditions and numerous line ups on both coasts. Also the happy and friendly Panamanian people have their share in a great vacation.

There are just two seasons in Panama. There is a dry time from December till April and a rainy time from April till December.

On the Caribbean side of Panama it rains all year long only the month February, March, September and October are a bit drier. The temperatures vary during the year from 22-32 degrees.

The heat is especially during the rainy season hart to take for tourist. In the mountains temperatures are with a span of 10-18 degrees much lower and are however only limited influenced by annual changes.

On the pacific side the month of December and January are the driest and therefore most suitable for a vacation. If you wish to visit the mountains you should pack some warm clothing, as it can become chilly at night.

Panama is in line with Costa Rica one of the only countries worldwide in which you can have access to two different seas.

The Caribbean side produces large and wild waves whereas the pacific has all year long rather medium sized waves to offer. Especially the areas around Santa Catalina, where in the month of April till October daily long point breaks roll to the coast, are crowded.

Theses constant wave conditions make every surfer heart beat faster and additionally temperatures are with 26-28 degrees all year long ideally warm.

The best swells hit the coast from April till October. Thanks to the numerous spots Panama offers something suitable for every level of expertise.

Crowd factor: Only high on the well-known spots. Otherwise enough room for everybody

Panama is approached by regular flights from European, American and Latin American airlines. For example Iberia offers a direct flight from Madrid to the capital. However most European countries do not offer direct flights, therefore a stopover in the US is necessary.

There is just one international airport in Panama; the “Tocumen International Panama City“ is located a bit out of the city.

Regular busses and taxis ensure the connection from the airport. You also have the option to rent a car. Who decides to take the waterway to Panama can choose one of the multiple harbours that are approached by the cruise ships.

The two most important harbours are Balboa and Christobal at the entrance of the Panama-channel. Who wishes to approach Panama via land can book a bus. Several bus lines offer trips from Panama to Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Guatemala and Honduras an.
