In the coastal regions temperatures are approx 24-35 degrees; in the interior about 20-30 degrees and the mountain areas have average temperatures of 16-26 degrees.

Overall humidity is high and reaches its peak during the rainy season. In the mountains it can cool down quickly at night times. Rainy season is from November till May and very heavy rainfall can occur in this period.

Not many scheduled flights connect directly to Indonesian airports and most of the time, stopovers are made. For example, flights from Malaysian airlines make a stopover in Kuala Lumpur whereas Singapore airlines make a stopover in Singapore. The ten biggest airports in Indonesia are  Jakarta, Jayapura, Denpasar (Bali), Makassar, Manado, Medan, Padang, Surabaya, Surakarta and Yogyakarta.

These airports are well connected to by international flights. Offers from charter airlines and cheap airlines vary a lot, depending on the season. There are dozens of ferry connections between the islands. It is advisable to take one of the national flights, as they are cheap and regular.

The islands can also be travelled by cab; especially in the cities where you will find hundreds of cabs with cheap deals and if you wish to be more independent you can rent a moped in many places.
